New Minimum Wages Order effective 1 May 2022; employers with less than 5 employees exempted

The extensively-expected Bare minimum Wages Purchase 2022 (“the Order”) was gazetted on 27 April 2022. The Get, pursuant to area 23 of the Countrywide Wages Consultative Council Act 2011, improves the least wage nationwide to RM1,500 from 1 May well 2022. There is a momentary exemption until finally 31 December 2022 from the raise for companies with considerably less than five personnel.

New bare minimum wage from 1 May possibly 2022

Momentary exemption for businesses with much less than 5 staff

There is a temporary exemption until eventually 31 December 2022 for employers with a lot less than five staff members. However, this exemption does not implement to employers who carry out skilled actions (as categorised underneath the Malaysia Normal Classification of Occupations posted by the Ministry of Human Resources), no matter of quantity of workers.

For exempted businesses, the current bare minimum wage rates will continue to apply, and the Order offers that from 1 January 2023 the new bare minimum wage charges will implement to all businesses.
